Our Story

Welcome to Shivtara!

We are fourth generation flour millers, with a legacy of over 100 years in milling flours. The Sahuwala family first started processing wheat into Chakki Atta and Maida in 1920. From that day to this, we have kept the promise of freshness and purity alive in our flours.

Our products are chemical and preservative free. We believe, a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be a choice but rather a fundamental aspect. Our multi step intensive milling process produces flours, that lets anyone create soft rotis; and luscious, lofty baked goods.

We put a lot of emphasis on food safety and quality. What you buy from us; is what we feed our families.

At Shivtara, we source the finest wheat from different regions and store them in modern silos. The miller, blends different varieties to make different grades of flour for consumers. Our modern food safety processing equipment helps us keep the flour pure, hygienic and untouched by hand. The in house labs run several tests on each batch. So, what you get is the perfect ingredient for making cakes, bread, noodles, biscuits and other baked goods.

Legacy of over 100 years in Flour Milling

1890 - The Sahuwala family business saga started under Shri Ramsahaimalji. He was the Choudhry (head of a community) of 22 villages under the reign of the Maharaja of Patiala. He managed the Mandi (trading centre mostly for grains) in a village called Rama Mandi, which was named after him.

1920 - His son, Shri Prahladraiji and his brothers, started Ganesh Flour Mill in the town of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. This was the town’s first chakki atta mill from where the entire town got their freshly milled Chakki Atta.

1940’s - After the Second World War, the family set up several mills in Sangaria, Ellenabad and Sri Ganganagar.

1949 - Shri Prahladraiji and his brothers, started Sahuwala Flour Mills, Madras (Chennai), which was operational until 2021. They subsequently also started a Besan mill, Dal mill, and a Bread manufacturing unit (this was South India’s first-ever sliced bread unit).

1960 - His son, Shri Manoharlal Gupta and his brothers started Andhra Roller Flour Mill, Hyderabad.

1980’s - His son, Shri Mahender Gupta along with his brothers and cousins, setup many mills across the country, including, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Bangalore, Warangal, Kurnool, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkota, Delhi, Benaras, Vishakapatnam and Lucknow. Most of these units are still in operation and many new locations have been added.
